Video Carousel Done

May 31st, 2010

Lately, there’s been a lot of emphasis on video. SweetDeeds likes video because it tends to be more engaging than stills. The drawback and common resistance by websites is the cost in terms of storing all those videos and the bandwidth consumed bringing them to users. We did it anyway. The latest enhancement is the video carousel at the bottom of the home page for videos SweetDeeds likes. We like to have a good sampling of the different types of SweetDeeds content. Currently, being placed on the featured video list is free so, if you think you’ve got something valuable and you want to get the word out, click the community manager button or email: cm@sweetdeeds.com and we’ll take a look and probably place your video on the carousel.

New Internal Messaging Done!

February 10th, 2010

Last week our internal messaging system was implemented. Messages created or received through SweetDeeds are copied and stored for access under “messages” tab on each members “My SweetDeeds” page. This is a huge step forward in usability because  messages that get marked as junk or spam in a member’s email app and possibly deleted, now get noticed when loging-in on the site. The number of new messages waiting in a member’s “My SweetDeeds” messages page is displayed in red text on the home page.

Talk Section Live

January 26th, 2010

The new “talk” section is designed for quick interaction between logged-in users. As such, it’s prominently positioned at the top right and has it’s own nav button so that users can get there quickly from any page on the site when the impulse strikes. Talk is intended for immediate member-to-member exchanges. The latest entries bump down the previous entries so, permanent content  is more searchable on  a member webpage/profile, however, the latest Talk entries are visible to everyone on the homepage.

Facebook Fan Page Taking Off

January 26th, 2010

We’re posting the latest news on our Facebook fan page, facebook.com/sweetdeeds, and the fans are coming. Sweetdeeds is up to 109 fans in one week. Not a bad start!

New Feature Soon

November 9th, 2009

The public forum to be called “Talk” allows members to post home related questions within popular categories to be answered by other members. Questions and replies are visible and available for comments, additions, and contradictions. It’s functionally done and running on our development server. Our graphic designer is working to get the forum integrated into the right column on the home page while we are looking for bugs. I hope it all comes together and is live by December 1.

“Messaging” Update

October 3rd, 2009

A lot of you have been nagging me to upgrade the SweetDeeds messaging system. It is in the works! We spec’d it last week and it should be implemented in two weeks. So, you’ll finally have a messaging page in My SweetDeeds where you can view and delete messages to stay organized on the site. This way you don’t need to be a Google Mail or Microsoft Outlook maven to keep your SweetDeeds messages out of the Spam folder. You can just handle it all in your My SweetDeeds.  Thanks to all those folks who gave us feedback!

Many improvements implemented this week!

October 3rd, 2009

This week the team upgraded the video for higher res and beautified the player. Also, the photo uploader has been upgraded to accept uncompressed files and then automatically resize for the slide show. Best of all, the Tip Jar has been fully implemented. This allows experts to receive tips for having saved other folks a lot of headaches. Look for the icon on Pro and Show & Tell profiles.

Welcome to SweetDeeds

September 14th, 2009

We are pleased to be open for business! Our goal with SweetDeeds is to create and grow an online resource and social network where members with different interests in home sales and home improvement showcase their talents and offerings in an inexpensive, accessible, and enjoyable forum.

The content you create suffices for a stand alone website. By printing the Permalink you specify on business cards and correspondence you gain the advantages of a website but, without hassles and without learning new skills. Get in the game now–it’s easy!

Professionals should keep in mind that other members will give you a rating and feedback. This is critical to your success. This is the one place where you can put your best foot forward to compete with the big boys and SweetDeeds will reward your good work by giving you a higher rating than the other guys who are not as dedicated.

Homeowners and enthusiasts can blog about home improvements and add photos and video. Your history serves to keep friends and family up to date, builds your network of members who share you interest, aids contractors in creating estimates and, when the time comes for you to sell, gives potential buyers a better sense of the value you have created in your property beyond just a statical value.

Of course, SweetDeeds is an important part of your home selling. All of the history you have created adds substantially to your advertising and SweetDeeds will syndicate your listing to a growing number of other great real estate websites.

Sincerely,

Nathan Evans and Tatsu Ikeda                                                                                               Founders of SweetDeeds
